Product & Specifications

What charging wattages and mount types do you manufacture?

T-Star manufactures 5W, 10W, and 15W Qi / Qi2 wireless car phone mounts in air-vent, dashboard suction, and auto-clamping configurations.

Our active catalogue covers three wattage tiers (5W universal, 10W standard, 15W fast) and three mounting styles (air-vent, dashboard / windshield suction, motorised auto-clamping). Qi and Qi2 certifications are available depending on the model. Magnetic and MagSafe-compatible variants are also in production. See the /products page for the full SKU matrix.

Recommended models: BK61 — BK61 Wireless Car Charger , BK22S — BK22S Wireless Mount Charger , SD04 — SD04 Auto-Clamping Wireless Charger

Qi vs. MagSafe vs. Qi2

What's the difference between Qi, MagSafe, and Qi2?

Qi = WPC's 5–10W standard. MagSafe = Apple's magnetic 15W extension. Qi2 = open-standard 15W magnetic profile — works on iPhone and Android.

Qi is the baseline wireless-charging standard from the Wireless Power Consortium — any Qi-certified pad will charge any Qi-certified phone, typically at 5W or 10W depending on tuning.

MagSafe is Apple's proprietary extension on iPhone 12+: magnets align the phone to the coil and unlock 15W charging when paired with an Apple-licensed accessory.

Qi2, released by the WPC in late 2023, brings the same magnetic alignment to the open standard (the "Magnetic Power Profile" / MPP), allowing 15W to any compatible device — iPhone or Android — regardless of brand. Buyers who want futureproof spec should pick Qi2 models like our BK22S or X01.

Charging Speed

How fast do your wireless car chargers actually charge in real-world driving?

15W Qi2 models deliver ~1% per minute on a modern iPhone. Heat throttling is the main real-world limiter — addressed by our perforated heat-vent design.

Lab-rated wattage and in-car wattage diverge once cabin temperature climbs. Our 15W models (BK61, BK22S, F18) maintain near-rated output thanks to a perforated rear shell that vents heat from both coil and device. In bench testing at 25 °C ambient, a fully drained iPhone 15 reaches ~50% in 35 minutes on BK22S Qi2 — comparable to a wired 20W adapter. 10W Qi models trade speed for cost and run cooler under sustained nav use.

Installation Methods

Which installation methods do you offer — air-vent, dashboard, or windshield?

All three. T-Star ships air-vent mounts (most popular), dashboard adhesive disc mounts, and windshield suction-cup mounts. Some SKUs include both kits.

Air-vent clip is the most-asked installation in the US — it doesn't leave residue, doesn't fall off in the heat, and is fast to remove. Around 80% of our SKUs are vent-clip.

For ride-share / delivery drivers who need eye-level GPS, dashboard suction or adhesive-disc mounts work better; we offer SD01, SD15, and X01 in this style. X01 ships with both windshield-suction and dashboard-disc adapters in the same box, letting buyers pick the install point at home.

Auto-Clamping

How does the auto-clamping mechanism work and is it safe for fingers?

An IR sensor detects the phone and the motorised arms close gently. SD04 uses a soft-close stop and limited torque — finger-safe even for kids in the car.

Our SD04 auto-clamping charger uses an infrared sensor to detect when a phone is presented. The motor closes the arms with limited torque (under 2N of pinch force) and reverses if obstructed — safe even for small fingers exploring the mount. Pressing the rear button releases the phone instantly. A second IR signal opens the arms when the phone is lifted out.

Thick-Case Compatibility

Will your wireless car chargers work with thick / wallet / OtterBox cases?

Most models charge through 3 mm cases. The F18 is purpose-built for cases up to 5 mm — wallet cases, OtterBox Defender, MagSafe + ring-grip combos.

Standard T-Star models charge reliably through cases up to 3 mm — covering almost every popular case on Amazon. For buyers whose end-customers run wallet cases, OtterBox Defender, or MagSafe + ring-grip combos, the F18 is calibrated specifically for cases up to 5 mm and ships with a "thick-case certified" mark on the retail box — a strong purchase trigger because thick-case incompatibility is the #1 1-star complaint on this category.

Device Compatibility

Which phones do your wireless car mounts support?

All Qi-compatible iPhones (8 and later) and Qi-compatible Android phones — Samsung Galaxy S/Note, Google Pixel 6+, and major brands.

Qi compatibility list covers iPhone 8 and later on Apple, and Samsung Galaxy S10 onwards, Google Pixel 5 onwards, plus most current flagships from OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Sony — anything carrying the Qi mark.

Qi2 models (BK22S, X01) require either a Qi2-capable device or a MagSafe-style magnetic case to lock alignment. The C3 is tuned for the widest backward range including the older 5W iPhone 8 / X — useful if your customer base is mixed.

Width-wise, our standard jaws fit handsets 60–90 mm wide. The X16 extended-jaw goes to 100 mm, which fits iPad mini in landscape (clamp only — no wireless charge).

Materials & Lifespan

What materials do you use and how long should the mount last?

ABS+PC bodies, aluminium reinforcement, silicone pads, FOD-protected coils. Typical field lifespan 3+ years; we honour 12-month wholesale warranty.

Bodies are injection-moulded ABS+PC, vent-clips reinforced with internal aluminium ribs (rather than the brittle pure ABS competitors use). Contact pads on the jaws are food-grade silicone to prevent scuffing on aluminium phone frames.

The wireless coil is protected by Foreign Object Detection (FOD): if metal slips between phone and mount, the coil pauses to prevent overheating. Typical field lifespan exceeds 3 years under daily commute use. T-Star backs every wholesale shipment with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects.
